Entrepreneur of the Year

Awards given to 10 people

Business First of Buffalo - July 18, 1997

Ten individuals from six companies were named Entrepreneur Of The Year award recipients and one individual was named Supporter of Entrepreneurship at a June 20 banquet that is part of the National Entrepreneur of the Year awards program founded and produced by the professional services firm of Ernst & Young.

The award recipients are:

• Ronald K. Zoeller, president and CEO, North Arnerican Health Plans Inc., Amherst, as the Health Care Entrepreneur Of The Year.

• Robert J. Attea, CEO; Charles E. Lannon, founding director; Kenneth F. Myszka, president and chief operating officer; and David L. Rogers, chief financial officer Sovran Self Storage Inc., Williamsville, as Real Estate Entrepreneur Of The Year.

• Patrick P. Lee, chairman and CEO, International Motion Control Inc., Orchard Park, as Master Entrepreneur Of The Year.

• Gerry Murak, Murak & Associates, LLC, Williamsville, as Supporter of Entrepreneurship.

• Alfred Audi, president, and Aminy Audi, vice president, L. & J. G. Stickley Inc. of Manlius, as Manufacturing Entrepreneur Of The Year.

• William Pomeroy, president, CABLExpress Corp. of Syracuse, as Distribution Entrepreneur Of The Year.

• Dilip Vellodi, chairman and CEO, The Sutherland Group Ltd. of Pittsford as Business Services Entrepreneur Of The Year.

A national judging panel will choose finalists for five national awards and The Entrepreneur of the Year award. They will be announced at a
black-tie awards gala during the Entrepreneur Of The Year Institute International Conference, Nov. 20-23 in Palm Springs, Calif.

The independent panel of judges, which selected the upstate New York award recipients, consisted of Gordon S. Black, Harris Black International Ltd.; G. Thomas Clark, Paychex Inc.; Mark E. Hamister, National Health Care Affiliates Inc.; William Manning, Manning & Napier Advisors Inc.; Robert I. Trachtenberg, CNY Technology Development Organzation; and Robert J. Martin, WNY Technology Development Center Inc.

Locally, the awards program is sponsored by Business First, Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and Stonehurst Capital.
