Summit Receives $25,000 Grant from the Patrick P. Lee Foundation

Amherst, NY – Dr. Stephen R. Anderson, CEO of Summit Educational Resources, has announced the receipt of a $25,000 grant from the Patrick P. Lee Foundation in support of the purchase and renovation of a building at 165 Creekside Drive in Amherst which opened in September to house Summit’s vocational program for students ages 17 – 21.

Summit is Western New York’s largest private provider of educational and therapeutic services to children and young adults with autism, language disorders, and related developmental disabilities.

Summit’s Vocational Center provides academic, vocational training and life skills instruction.  The curriculum emphasizes individualized educational goals to enable students to strengthen their skills and prepare them for either supported employment or a day program after they leave Summit at age 21.

“We greatly appreciate the financial support of the Patrick P. Lee Foundation for this very important project which will make a difference in the lives of hundreds of young adults with developmental disabilities,” Dr. Anderson said.

Total cost for the project is $2.041 million.  To date, Summit has secured more than $760,200 toward its $841,275 fundraising goal.

Established in 2005, the Patrick P. Lee Foundation is dedicated to providing support to non-profit organizations that empower families and communities with the resources needed to create positive change in the areas of education, cancer treatment/research, mental wellness and human services.
