Warren B. Cutting
There is no better name to associate with the Canisius College Accounting Program that that of Warren Cutting, who has been an avid and loyal supporter of the Canisius department of accounting since the 1950s.
In 1958, Mr. Cutting and the former dean of the School of Business Administration, Dr. Austin Murphy, organized the Canisius College Council on Accountancy. This body was only second of its kind in the United States and has since served as a model for similar councils across the country. Mr. Cutting has also served on the college’s advisory council to the Wehle School of Business, the Planned Giving Advisory Council, and is a member of the President’s Council. In 1957, he was recognized as Outstanding Accountant of the Year, and in 1968 he was awarded the President’s Medal, which honors one whose life and character demonstrate dedicated service to God and humanity. Mr. Cutting received Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree form Canisius College in 1974.
Through the generosity of Warren’s many friends and business associates, the Warren B. Cutting Scholarships were established to ensure that many talented young people have the opportunity to pursue an education in the Richard J. Wehle School of Business at Canisius College.
